Tim Michels joins race for Wisconsin Governor
MADISON — A Wisconsin businessman has filed papers to run for Wisconsin Governor.
Tim Michels, a Republican, filed paperwork with the Wisconsin Elections Commission to start fundraising and spend funds to promote his candidacy. The other Republicans in the race are former Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch, United States Marine Kevin Nicholson, and conspiracy theorist Tim Ramthun. They are seeking to square off against Democratic Governor Tony Evers.
Kleefisch has been the favorite to win the Republican nomination to challenge Evers in November.
Michels is the co-owner of the Michels Corporation, a family owned and operated energy and infrastructure construction company headquartered in Wisconsin. While Michels is the latest newcomer to the gubernatorial race, he had previously ran for the United States Senate in 2004 and lost to Democrat Russ Feingold.
Television commercials promoting Michels’ candidacy could start running as soon as next week, according to a report from Wisconsin Right Now.
