St. Nicholas Hospital purchases property on Sheboygan’s south side
SHEBOYGAN — St. Nicholas Hospital purchased property on Sheboygan’s south side for what could possibly be a clinic or urgent care center.
Last summer, St. Nicholas Hospital purchased the former Maple Lanes Bowling Funplex, located at 3107 South Business Drive in Sheboygan. After acquiring the 24,418-square-foot bowling alley, the hospital filed a demolition permit with the City of Sheboygan in December 2020. Demolition wrapped up earlier this year according to the city’s Department of Planning and Development.
The property was acquired for a future expansion of Prevea Health, a multi-specialty healthcare provider and physician partner of HSHS St. Nicholas Hospital according to Dana Jermstad, Director of Communications and Public Relations at Prevea Health.
Jermstad could not provide additional information about the plans for the land.
Currently, Prevea Health operates a number of offices and a Prevea Urgent Care in the area of North Taylor Drive and Superior Avenue as well as the Prevea Health Center near Highway 57 and Highway 23 in Plymouth.
The building was custom built in 1977 for Maple Lanes, a 24 lane bowling center with a full bar and kitchen. When the property was listed for sale, the building was reportedly in good condition with the roof being approximately 10 years old. The property itself is a little over four acres and is located north of a proposed Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen. Those plans, which called for the shuttered Ryder Truck Maintenance Shop to be razed as soon as this summer, have been delayed to 2022.
Maple Lanes closed in May 2019 after being in business for 30 years. The closure was due to the death of majority owner Royace Prather, who passed away in November of 2018.
