Roof collapses at building owned by Sheboygan landlord Patrick Ortlieb
Property in the King Park Neighborhood is an eyesore with overgrown weeds, grass
SHEBOYGAN — Firefighters responded to a roof collapse Monday morning at a building on Sheboygan’s south side.
The Sheboygan Fire Department responded to 818 Clara Avenue in the King Park Neighborhood after receiving a call about the roof of the building collapsing. The property is owned by Patrick Ortlieb through his Ortlieb Commercial LLC. He purchased the building in December 2017 from Scott C. Thomson, the owner of Thomson Marine.

While the building is nondescript, it had been used for boat storage while its current use is unknown given the condition of the building and property. No injuries were reported at the scene. A police officer also responded to assess the large hole in the roof. The structure is across the street from the former Q-Mart gas station at South 8th Street and Clara Avenue.

Neighbors have complained for years about tall weeds and uncut grass at the property. On Monday morning, it was clear why neighbors are frustrated with Ortlieb, who lives at 4527 Culla Hill Circle in the Town of Sheboygan.1 Obnoxious weeds several feet high could be seen around the building along with uncut grass and a tripping hazard being caused by weeds growing in the cracks of the sidewalk. Gravel alleyways on both sides of the building are impassable.
Along with 818 Clara Avenue, Ortlieb owns nearly 30 rental properties in the City of Sheboygan. Some of those properties also had lawns with uncut grass, weeds and overgrown shrubs as of Monday morning. Some homes and duplexes have peeling paint and aging windows.
