Big Lots closing Sheboygan store
The discount retailer is closing five stores in Wisconsin and as many as 40 nationwide
SHEBOYGAN — Big Lots is closing five of their 12 Wisconsin stores including one in Sheboygan.
The discount retailer said it’s expected to close as many as 40 stores throughout the United States.1 Big Lots will close its Sheboygan store at 3426 Kohler Memorial Drive, located within Memorial Plaza. The plaza is managed by Van Horn and includes Michaels, Harbor Freight, Dunhamʼs Sports, Marcus Cinema, Pizza Ranch and McDonaldʼs.
Big Lots is the second national realtor to exit Sheboygan in the last year. Office Max closed their store in Van Horn’s Memorial Plaza last October. The space was remodeled and Michaels opened last week. Van Horn is simultaneously working on their flagship North Town development in the Town of Sheboygan as well as Whitetail Ridge in Elkhart Lake.
In 2022, Big Lots announced they would be opening a new store in Grafton. The 30,042-square-foot store was expected to open last summer but the grand opening was pushed back several times. Grafton Village officials did not know Big Lots had abruptly abandoned their plans and believed the store was still opening. Village officials only found out when lease signs were posted on the building,2 which was formerly a Pick ‘n Save grocery store.
Big Lots will keep their Neenah, Milwaukee and Green Bay stores open.
