Over $6,000 in beauty products stolen from Fond du Lac Walgreens
An organized crime ring has stolen thousands of dollars in merchandise
FOND DU LAC — An organized crime ring has stolen thousands of dollars in merchandise from Walgreens stores in Fond du Lac and elsewhere.
Fond du Lac Police say on June 20th, two females wearing oversize dresses stole over $6,000 in products while two others entered the stores at separate times to distract employees and block cameras. All merchandise stolen was beauty, cosmetic, and skincare products.
Walgreens Loss Prevention officials believe the same suspects went to stores in Oshkosh, Kaukauna and De Pere on the same day. The suspects arrived in two vehicles with out-of-state license plates and parked them away from the store. Similar thefts have been reported across the country and police in Florida made two arrests last week.
Shoplifting is such a problem at Walgreens12 that the company announced plans to close a "significant" number of underperforming stores across the United States due to ongoing challenges with profitability and retail theft.3 There are three Walgreens stores in Fond du Lac, three stores in Sheboygan and one in Plymouth. It is unknown if any will be affected by the closures.
