$1.6 million dollar gas station to be built at North 15th Street and Geele Avenue
SHEBOYGAN — The owner of Tidy Store is proposing to build two new BP gas stations on Sheboygan’s north side.
Basudev Adhikar, the owner of Tidy Store on North 14th Street, has received approval from the City’s Plan Commission to build a $1.6 million dollar 24-hour BP gas station at the northwest corner of North 15th Street and Geele Avenue. The 60,000-square-foot gas station will feature a small restaurant and a UPS store in the North Railway neighborhood.
The property was formerly Select Auto Sales before going out of business. The building, which has been vacant for a several years, will be demolished to make way for the new development.
Adhikar also plans to invest an additional $800,000 to build a new BP gas station at the southeast corner of North 26th Street and Superior Avenue in the Vollrath West neighborhood. The station will include typical convenience store products of snacks and beverages. There will also be a small restaurant space on the north side of the building according to documents submitted to the City of Sheboygan.
Both new BP stations would be built by Quasius Construction of Sheboygan.
Adhikar, a Kohler resident, also owns Harbor Petro at South 9th Street and Indiana Avenue, Shell at South 17th Street and Indiana Avenue and Citgo at 810 North 14th Street. City officials have raised concerns with how the gas stations are managed and maintained. Building inspectors and police officers have been involved to address miscellaneous debris, equipment, and signage throughout these properties.
